Things to do in Jaco Beach
SurfingMost of the surfing lessons for all of Jaco Beach are give right in front of Casa Rio Mar. This is because of the very gradual beach having little undertow, evenness of the waves having a form easy for beginners.

ATV Tours1,2 and 4 hour ATV Tours are available in Jaco and most tours will pick you up and take you to where the ATV tour starts. You can cruise the beach or go up in to the mountains for incredible views of the coastline and valley. Multiple tours are available and we can help you make your decision and arrangements. Horseback ridingMen on horses routinely come by the house to see if anyone wants to go for a ride. The horses are well trained and easy to ride. On the two hour tour they take you up to the hills around Jaco Beach, culminating into a spectacular view of all of Jaco bay. Truly a memorable experience. ShoppingThe town of Jaco has been a surf town for Americans since the 1960’s. The main street in Jaco is filled with restaurants, gift shops, clothing shops and souvenir stands plus all the business the locals frequent. Start at the south end of town and walk your way north along main street and you will find any type of shop you want. But remember to bring US dollars or local colones because most places don’t take credit cards. RestaurantsThere are well over 100 restaurants in the greater Jaco area serving a wide variety of choices including local favourites, pizza and seafood. Three favorites are Claritas for more American food, Bohio Grill for seafood and Backyard Bar for just absolutely anything. All three are on the beach with the Backyard Bar having the best view. Canopy ToursThere are several canopy tours available in the Jaco area. Canopy tours are essentially very safe zip lines that cover a long distance high up in the trees. For more information on local canopy tours please check the book on-site at Casa Rio Mar. Crocodile ManOne of the most memorable tours you can take is the Crocodile man tour. After about a 20 min in the bus ride you board a covered boat for a four hour tour of a river leading into the ocean. You will see indigenous birds, wildlife and crocodiles, lots of crocodiles.. The highlight of the tour is when one of the guards feeds a piece of raw chicken to a crocodile at least 10 feet long – right beside the boat! Not a tour to be missed |
